How to convert Litres per 100 kilometres to kilometres per litre
km/L = 100 ÷ L/100 km
Divide 100 by the positive L/100 km reading. This is a reciprocal relationship: doubling L/100 km halves km/L. Zero and negative readings are not supported.
Worked examples
5 L/100 km ≈ 20 km/L
100 ÷ 5 ≈ 20
8 L/100 km ≈ 12.5 km/L
100 ÷ 8 ≈ 12.5
Frequently asked questions
Why does the numerical direction reverse?
Consumption measures fuel used per distance; economy measures distance per fuel volume. They are reciprocals. A lower L/100 km reading corresponds to a higher km/L or mpg reading. This tool requires positive finite inputs.
