Converting data storage
Decimal prefixes use powers of 1,000: a megabyte is 1,000,000 bytes. Binary prefixes use powers of 1,024: a mebibyte is 1,048,576 bytes.
How the calculation works
Multiply the source value by its base-unit factor, then divide by the destination factor. For example, 1 GB ≈ 0.9313225746 GiB.
Precision and rounding
Choose 6, 10 or 15 significant figures for the displayed result. Calculations use unrounded JavaScript numbers. The ≈ symbol indicates that displayed results may be rounded; significant figures are display precision, not measurement accuracy.
